1) We FINALLY get to the scene we've all been waiting for. You know what I'm talking about--yay sexytimes! What were your impressions? Was it what you were expecting? Or did you want more?
Woohoo I say. Finally the sexytimes I was waiting for. I thought it was nicely done. It didn’t feel rushed or forced. The author built up the tension well so the whole scene worked for me. There was a bit of nerves, some humor and then the moment you let it all go and trust your partner. Bravo Diana Gabaldon!
2) I know that some readers thus far have been bothered by the fact of Claire being married to Frank but still being involved with Jamie, despite the different time periods. Does their time as newlyweds change anyone's opinion of that? If not, now what are you thinking of the situation?
You guys know how I feel about Frank already. Frank who?? What is a girl to do? You are trapped in another time with a hot Scot who you simply HAVE to marry. It could be worse. *wink*
3) What did you think about the "waterhorse" that Claire saw? Why do you think Peter was so spooked? And what do you think this means for Claire?
I thought it was a fun addition. You can’t have a Scottish novel without mentioning it. I have read ahead so I’m not going to answer the second part of the question. No spoilers from this girl.
4) If you were Claire and you were knowingly in the vicinity of the stones, would you have done the same thing she did?
Ugh. Claire, Claire, Claire. This is where you and I hit the skids. Why woman? I think it was a pretty stupid move on her part and she deserves everything that is coming to her. Just sayin!
5) What do you think about Captain Randall? How do you think the family resemblance between him and Frank affects Claire and particularly her relationship with Jamie?
I loathe Captain Randall but who wouldn’t. He is just so vile. I’m sure it isn’t easy for Claire when he looks so much like Frank. It would make me wonder if any personality traits passed down thru the family tree as well.

Frank Who? Is right!!! *lol* I just love Jamie so much, that at this point in the reading I was wishing that Frank would quit popping up!

Oh dear. I'm starting to worry about this water horse thing. I would never have thought about that scene if it wasn't for the question.
ReplyDeleteAnd we get so little of Frank - and a lot of Evil nonFrank, that I liked what you said about wondering if any bad traits have been passed down.
Wow. "Everything that's coming to her," huh. Can't wait until next week...
You made me laugh, Carrie! Claire screwed up and....MAN. I was so mad at her.
ReplyDeleteI loved Chapter 15. But as I've read much much further, I love all the other parts too. I love me some Jamie. Yes I do.
I liked the sexytimes too, I felt like it was just well done all around! I am also right there with ya on the "Frank who?" situation. I had a hard time liking Claire in the beginning, then I liked her again and now I don't think there is any going back. I was FURIOUS at her and thought her actions so selfish and juvenile and mostly STUPID!!!
ReplyDeleteHah...We both questioned the whole dastardly family tree.
ReplyDeletePssh, Frank. I always loathed him (probably because he isn't Jamie!) and I was also like, "Frank who?!" VERY early on in the book.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I LOVED the sexytimes. It was tender and funny and heart-warming all at once. Ohhh. Jamie/Claire. ALWAYS gonna be one of my favorite book couples!
