Dewey's 24 Hour Read-A-Thon

7:00 A.M. - Hi everyone and welcome to my very first 24 Hour Read-a-thon post. Yesterday was the first time I had ever heard about Dewey's Read-A-Thon but its actually a bi-yearly event that challenges everyone to read as much as they can in a 24 hour period. Since I like a good challenge and have been reading at the speed of a snail, I thought this would be a fun way to tackle my reading pile. I'm not sure how much reading I'll get done but I'm super excited about taking part.

As a blogger I'm suppose to give updates on my reading progress throughout the day so I will try my best to do that. My plan is to post updates on the blog every 2-3 hours. I'll also be on twitter a bit if you want to follow me there (@StalkintheBooks). I have snacks prepared and a huge TBR pile ready to go. Yes, everything I'll be reading will come out of this stack. ----------> Unless its Looking for Alaska or Sloppy Firsts since they got left out of the picture. Oh and whatever is left over will be used towards the next read-a-thon in May (which will likely be most of it, LOL).

I've already picked The Alchemy of Forever by Avery Williams as my first book. If you're taking part in the Read-A-Thon let me know in the comments so I can swing by there and cheer you on. Now I'm off get some reading done. Wish me luck!

10:00 A.M. - I'm only on page 135 of The Alchemy of Forever which is kind of sad. Between the kiddos, hubby and pets; my morning has been a bit busier then I planned, LOL. Though I'm really liking the book so far!

Introductory Questionnaire

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
~Kentucky

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
~Um...that's so hard but probably The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
~Anything with chocolate in it. Though I do have some yummy plums calling my name.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
~I have very quickly become a hard-core fan of contemps. Although with the exception of horror I will pretty much read anything that sounds good regardless of the genre.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
~This is my first read-a-thon and I am most looking forward to seeing what others are reading throughout the day.

1:00 P.M. - Finished The Alchemy of Forever by Avery Williams and then took a nice lunch break with the fam. Just started How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff (on page 5). Have mountain dew and cheez-its on hand if I need them. Now back to reading...

3:45 P.M. - I got 50 pages into How I Live Now but then changed book. The storytelling is quite unique and I want to give it the proper attention. I'll finish it after the read-a-thon is over. After snacking on some left over Easter candy I'm now reading The Boy on Cinnamon Street by Phoebe Stone (on page 65).

7:15 P.M. - ...Um so I FAIL because between dinner and a nap (oops) I've only read 50 more pages in The Boy on Cinnamon Street (I'm on page 116). I'm feeling refreshed now and committed to an insane night of reading. I'm liking going to have to make coffee later. Hope everyone is doing better then I am.

MidEvent Survey

1) How are you doing? Sleepy? Are your eyes tired?
~I was doing okay but then I took a nap, LOL. My bad.

2) What have you finished reading?
~The Alchemy of Forever by Avery Williams

3) What is your favorite read so far?
~Same as above, but I'm not just saying that cuz its the only one I've finished. I REALLY enjoyed it!

4) What about your favorite snacks?
~Cheez-its and mountain dew all the way!

5) Have you found any new blogs through the readathon? If so, give them some love!
~Not yet but I plan to do both :D

10:30 P.M. - Finished The Boy on Cinnamon Street. It was very good but I thought it would be a light, fun MG book and it ended up being more serious then that. Just started Cryer's Cross by Lisa McMann. I've heard its spooky. The perfect book for reading into the night. Made a new pot of strawberry coffee which I can't wait to drink. It's so delicious and will hopefully keep me wide awake.
