If there was ever a middle grade book that was sure to eventually be made into a movie, it would definitely have to be The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. Then it comes as no surprise that this is actually going to happen. Disney is behind the project with a script writer, direct and cast to come sometime in the future. Its very early stages so that's all the news I have for now.The Graveyard Book was inspired by Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. However, instead of a young boy who's raised by wolves in the jungle, Gaiman tells the story of the last surviving child of a murdered family raised by ghosts in a graveyard.
I've yet to read the book but I've heard its fantastic. Gaiman is a visionary and his books have made great films. If you've read the book what do you think of the news? Excited? Sound of below!

I haven't read the book yet but I'm excited ^_^. I loved Startdust and I thought Coraline was really good so I say bring on the adaptation.
ReplyDeleteThis book is amazing. The first few pages will leave you with chills and the inability to put it down. Gaiman is amazing. I just hope someday they make a movie based on Good Omens.

ReplyDeleteI freaking love this book. The story is made of win and illustrations? Please! Plus, it's Gaiman. You should read it! It's awesome. (HINT: If you do audio, the audio is voiced by Neil Gaiman himself. It's brilliantly done.)

ReplyDeleteThis is the first NG book that I read (ok, so far ONLY NG book). I Loved it though. I wonder if they will bring in Tim Burton? This book seems right up his alley.
