Hi all,
Carrie here. Just wanted to pop in real quick and wish everyone a Happy New Year. Here's hoping 2012 is a fantastic year. I sure have enjoyed helping on the blog, reading lots of great books and making lots of new friendships during 2011. I'm sure 2012 will be even better!
Speaking of 2012, I wanted to start the year off with a little mini challenge for myself. I have a Nook Color and love adding new books to it all the time. Only problem is it seems that my Nook books get pushed to the side in favor of physical books, review books and etc. I also noticed that a lot of the books on my Nook are self published and/or by small independent publishers. Therefore I thought I would set aside the month of January to read the self published/indie books on my Nook.
Here are some of the books I am hoping to tackle this month:
Angelfall by Susan Ee
Destined by Jessie Harrell
Solstice by P.J. Hoover
Brightest Kind of Darkness By P.T. Michelle
Exiled by M.R. Merrick
The Forest of Adventures by Katie M. John
I am kicking off my January reading list with Brightest Kind of Darkness by P.T. Michelle. So far I am loving it and it is living up to all the hype. Why did I wait so long to read it? Anyway, I'm excited to dig into all these great books and give a shout out to all these great authors.
How are you kicking off 2012?

I've heard really good things about Angelfall, but I've never read an angel book that I really liked, so IDK. You'll have to let me know what you think.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited you're doing this! I love the indies! I am working on some great ones myself. Perhaps we can compare notes like we do!
ReplyDeleteGREAT IDEA Carrie! Way to be open to the indies!
Thanks so much for showing the Indies some love! And I'm so honored that Destined is among your list of Indie pics. I hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm starting off 2012 finishing up all the books I need to review for January, which are mostly self-pubs and indies :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing BRIGHTEST KIND OF DARKNESS some love! I'm so glad you decided to give it a try. :)

Great choices Shannon. I read Brightest Kind of Darkness and really enjoyed it, I hope that you do too!! Also, I have had my eye on Destined, it has such a fabulous cover and the story sounds interesting. I am looking forward to your review of that one.
ReplyDeleteShannon: I know you have preggo brain so I will let it slide that you just called me Shannon. I know we are sisters and all but we are seperate people.:-P LOL Love ya!
ReplyDeleteI am totally going to blame pregnancy brain! I see that in the first line it says Carrie!! I can read I swear!! Not to mention the fact that we talked about Brightest Kind of Darkness on twitter already didn't we?? I have 6 more months of this pregnancy to go, so it might not be my last mistake!!
ReplyDeleteI'm wanting to read Destined by Jessie Harrell as soon as I can this month, too. :) Will definitely have to check out the other indie books on your list. New follower, and looking forward to see more on your blog.
ReplyDeleteBrightest Kind of Darkness brings up an interesting idea--can you run from fate? This book is full of twists and turns and it is impossible to not care about these characters. If you want a spooky paranormal tale with a sizzling romance inside.
