What I'm "Waiting On" this week...times two!
DEAD RULES by Randy Russell
Release Date: June 21st, 2011 from HarperTeen
Synopsis from Goodreads
Jana Webster and Michael Haynes were destined to be together forever. Of that, Jana was sure.
But Jana just died—in a bowling accident. And now she’s trapped in Dead School. Jana is certain that it won’t be long before Michael kills himself in order to spend eternity with her—but the days are passing and Michael is, inexplicably, still alive. So Jana decides to take matters into her own hands. And nothing—not even Dead School bad boy Mars Dreamcote’s enticingly warm touch or the devastating secret he holds about her death—will stop her from making her dreams come true.
I think Dead Rules sounds incredibly dark, yet unbelievably funny! I've heard it mentioned as a cross between Romeo & Juliet and the movie Heathers. I don't really like comparisons but honestly I love Heathers, so anything that's even close to the dark humor of that movie and I'm sure I'll love it! Plus it was recommended to me by a wonderful debut author, Ruta Sepetys. Bonus: the cover is so EYE catching!
WITCH SONG by Amber Argyle
Release Date: September 1st, 2011 from Rhemalda Publishing
Synopsis from Goodreads
For thousands of years, witch song has controlled everything from the winds to the shifting of the seasons. But not anymore. All the Witches are gone, taken captive by the dark Witch, Espen.
As the last echoes of witch song fade, Espen grows stronger as winter and summer come within the space of a day. Now she’s coming for the one she missed—a shy, untrained girl of fifteen named Brusenna.
Somehow, Brusenna has to succeed where every other Witch has failed. Find Espen. Fight her. Defeat her. Or there won’t be anything left to save.
The first thing that drew me to Witch Song was its premise, I just love the way it sounds. However, now I can't remember how I original heard about the book, but I'm so glad I did, as now its one I get to share with all of you. The cover was only just released and I'm in absolute awe at how beautiful it is! Don't you think its stunning?
